In Vladivostok, the court seized more than 200 objects of corrupt real estate and shares of Vostochnaya Verf JSC from the former rector of Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VSUES) Gennady Lazarev and a group of defendants. This was reported on February 20 on the website of the Leninsky District Court of the region.

It is noted that the measure was imposed against the background of violations of requirements and prohibitions aimed at preventing corruption. At the same time, the damage from the activities of the defendants exceeds two billion rubles. Thus, 265 objects of the group of defendants in the case, including former prosecutor of Primorsky Krai Valeria Vasilenko, were turned into state revenue.

According to investigators, from 1996 to 2004, Lazarev stole 16 objects belonging to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, including a land plot and premises in Vladivostok, by making imaginary transactions. In total, over 24 million rubles were received. In addition, deceptive schemes were committed against students.

Lazarev's arrest on suspicion of organizing a criminal community (Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) became known in March 2024. Since the creation of the criminal community and until 2024, its members have committed at least six serious crimes. Later, the defendant was also charged with the theft of 16 objects of state property.
