- It became known that the CCC is considering the resignation of the judge who arrested Galitskaya.
The Qualification Board of Judges (KKS) of the Moscow region will consider the resignation of the judge of the Istra court of the region, Fedor Grigoriev, who arrested the deceased Aliya Galitskaya. This was reported by RIA Novosti on February 20, citing a source.
"The Qualification Board of Judges of the Moscow region <... He will consider applications for the resignation of Fedor Grigoriev, a federal judge of the Istra Court of the Moscow region," the agency's interlocutor said.
He also explained that the issue would be raised at the next board meeting, which is scheduled for Friday, February 20. If Grigoriev's application is satisfied, he will work in the Istra court until March 2.
It is also reported that the head of the Supreme Court of Russia, Igor Krasnov, was outraged by the situation with Galitskaya's death.
Galitskaya's arrest became known on February 6 in connection with the extortion of $ 150 million from her ex-husband, billionaire Alexander Galitsky. It was noted that she was supposed to be in custody until April 3, but on February 8, Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council and a journalist, reported that Aliya Galitskaya had committed suicide in a temporary detention facility. According to the human rights defender, the woman was in solitary confinement. The note she left contained an accusation against Galitsky.
As a result, a criminal libel case was opened against her ex-husband. This was the second extortion case. Aliya was under arrest because of him.
Subsequently, on February 10, Galitskaya's lawyer Dmitry Yemelyanov said that after Galitskaya's death, a forensic medical examination was conducted in a temporary detention facility near Moscow. She also noted that after the autopsy and this examination, the investigator issued a burial permit.
On February 18, the Moscow Regional Court overturned the decision of the Istra City Court and discontinued the proceedings at the investigator's request to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of the suspect Galitskaya. The next day, according to a source in Izvestia, Judge Fyodor Grigoriev, who ruled on Galitskaya's arrest, resigned.
