Warsaw's demands for reparations are historical fantasies. This statement was made to Izvestia on February 19 at the Russian Embassy in Poland.

"The details of the [Polish] Prime Minister Donald Tusk's 'instructions' have not yet been made public. However, it is already obvious that it belongs to the category of fantasy on the theme of history," the embassy said.

The Russian embassy called the statements of the Polish authorities regarding reparations "myth-making" and stressed that such actions by Warsaw do not need comments.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on February 17 that Poland is preparing a claim for reparations against Russia for alleged Soviet domination. According to the newspaper, Tusk instructed Bartosz Gondek, director of the Jan Karski Institute for the Assessment of Military Losses, to conduct an investigation.

The next day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova jokingly offered to send the Polish side a link to a video recording of Mikhail Glinka's opera Ivan Susanin in response to demands for reparations.

Andrei Ordash, Charge d'affaires of Russia in Poland, said on January 17 that Russia was fighting the "historical amnesia" of Warsaw, which began to forget about the actions of Nazi troops on its territory.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
