Due to the snowfall in Moscow, all snow-melting points in the capital have started working intensively. This was announced on February 19 by the deputy mayor of the capital, Pyotr Biryukov.
"The maximum number of employees of public utilities, specialists from large metropolitan engineering companies, and the entire fleet of municipal special equipment are involved in clearing Moscow of snow. Some of the collected snow is immediately taken to snow—melting points for disposal," TASS quoted him as saying.
It is noted that snow removal takes place in conditions of incessant snowfall and wind gusts up to 15-17 m per second.
Currently, more than 50 stationary snow-melting points are operating in the capital. The condition of the road network is also being monitored. Special attention is paid to the prompt cleaning of key highways, as well as sidewalks, approaches to bus stops and other transport and social facilities.
