A car exploded near the US Embassy in Yerevan. This was announced on February 19 by the Armenian online resource Shamshyan, specializing in criminal chronicles.

"Today, on February 19, an emergency occurred in Yerevan. At about 18.00 (17.00 Moscow time) on Isakov Avenue, opposite the US Embassy, an explosion occurred in a car, after which a fire broke out," the newspaper writes.

The publication notes that traffic was temporarily suspended on the section of road from the American Embassy towards the Victory Bridge for the duration of fire-fighting operations. The Yerevan police is investigating information about the victims and is also trying to identify the car owner.

On January 27, the State Security Service of Azerbaijan detained three citizens of the republic who were preparing a terrorist attack on the embassy of a foreign state in Baku. It was reported that the detainees acted on grounds of religious hatred and were associated with the Wilayati Khorasan group (the Afghan branch of the Islamic State, both organizations are recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation).
