Britain called the arrest of ex-Prince Andrew a "distraction" from the Epstein case.
The arrest of former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of the current British monarch Charles III, may be a "red herring" that was undertaken to hide other participants in crimes committed jointly with financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexual misconduct. Tony Gosling, an ex-journalist of the BBC television channel, told Izvestia about this on February 19.
"I think [the prince] Andrew was arrested today— it's a distraction. The idea is that the others who were recorded in Epstein's houses <...> are now shaking with fear: "if they could with Andrew, they can with me." They're giving this bullshit to the public. This is not an important arrest at all from the point of view of real crime," he said.
Quoting the King of Great Britain, who argued that "the law must take its course," the expert said that in fact the situation with justice is completely different. According to him, the country's authorities selectively persecute those who are "enemies of the crown." Gosling referred to the arrested man as one of them.
"And here's the irony, one of the monarchs, who may have slept with a 17-year-old, was arrested, and the one who may have been involved in the murder of his own wife (Princess Diana. — Ed.) — No. Charles (real name of Charles III. — Ed.) is at the center of all this," said the former journalist.
Charles III, whose wealth is constantly growing, according to a British expert, supports the wars in the Middle East and the conflict in Ukraine, while his own people are getting poorer every day.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who renounced the title of Duke of York and all related honors on October 17, 2025, after discovering his name in Epstein's files, was detained on February 19. He had previously moved out of Windsor Castle and was suspected of misconduct in a public office.
People magazine reported on December 20, 2025, that former Prince Andrew used Sandringham, one of Queen Elizabeth II's favorite estates, for at least one meeting with Epstein's convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. There he was reported to have hosted his mistresses.
