Ukraine is trying to draw the Europeans into negotiations with Russia in order to receive money from them. Alexey Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed this opinion on Thursday, February 19.
"Of course, Ukrainians are trying to rely on European leaders, primarily Germany, France and the United Kingdom. They get money and weapons from them, and they practically impose their political vision of development in Europe. Therefore, they are trying to drag them into responsibility. In this case, it will be easier for them to receive money from them," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
The parliamentarian added that the Europeans are offering unrealistic conditions and delaying a decision on a peace agreement, which is personally beneficial to the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia sees no point in the participation of European representatives in the negotiations on Ukraine, as their statements contribute to the continuation of the conflict, according to the website. kp.ru .
He noted that Europe is not represented at the negotiations by anyone and that the vast majority of the points of view of the European authorities contribute to the continuation of the conflict, rather than attempts at a peaceful settlement.
The head of the Russian delegation, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, following two-day meetings on February 18 in Geneva, said that the negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine were difficult, but businesslike.
