- Dmitriev called an article about projects worth $12 trillion for the lifting of US sanctions fake
On February 19, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, called an article by The Economist magazine about $12 trillion worth of projects proposed by the United States from Russia in exchange for the lifting of sanctions fake.
"Fake news. The United States will eventually lift sanctions because sanctions against Russia are costing American businesses more than $300 billion," Dmitriev wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to him, the lifting of sanctions against Russia is beneficial for the United States. He also said that the portfolio of potential projects in Moscow and Washington exceeds $14 billion.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed on February 18 that Russia remains interested in resuming trade, economic and investment cooperation with the United States. He commented on an article by The Economist magazine, which stated that Washington was working on a scenario for the possible lifting of anti-Russian sanctions.
