In Moscow, Denis Gagin was sentenced to 12 years in prison for murder and robbery, which he committed in 1999. This was announced on February 19 by the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office.

"Taking into account the position of the Zyuzinsky interdistrict prosecutor's office, a man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for murder and robbery committed a quarter of a century ago (paragraphs "w, h" of part 2 of Article 105, paragraph "c" of part 3 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the message says in the MAX messenger.

According to the investigation, on August 22, 1999, a man, while at an apartment building on Chongarsky Boulevard, attacked a passerby and severely beat him. After that, he pushed the victim into a technical well in the basement and set fire to it using a flammable liquid.

According to law enforcement agencies, after 25 years it was possible to establish the location of the suspect. According to investigators, after the attack, the attacker also stole a chain, bracelet and money from the victim.

The day before, the state prosecution requested 14 years in prison for Gagin, accused of murder committed in the capital more than a quarter of a century ago. It was noted that the defense pointed out many discrepancies in the case file. So, the alleged murder weapon, the bottle, was not fingerprinted, and the only witness, an elderly woman, stated that she had heard the voices of two adult men at the time of the crime, although Gagin was a minor at the time.
