The governor of the Lipetsk region called snow a possible reason for the collapse of the workshop roof.

The preliminary reason why the roof of the Motorinvest welding workshop located in the Krasninsky district of the Lipetsk region collapsed could be an accumulation of snow. This was announced by Governor Igor Artamonov on Thursday, February 19.

"According to preliminary information, the cause of the collapse was the accumulation of snow on the roof of the workshop," he said in a message on the Telegram channel.

It is also noted that rescuers who arrived at the scene of the incident continue to conduct search operations there. Currently, as the head of the region added, all the necessary services are involved in the territory of the enterprise — the grouping of forces and means is constantly increasing. In addition, Artamonov stressed, representatives of the operational headquarters coordinate the actions of the services on the spot.

The collapse of the roof of one of the workshops of the Motorinvest company in the village of Grebenkino became known on February 19 in the afternoon. At that time, it was reported that there could be people inside the building. Later it became known about the extraction of five people from the rubble. Rescuers handed over the injured to the medical staff to clarify their condition. The governor of the Lipetsk region said that the grouping of forces and means to eliminate the consequences began to increase.
