Korostelev took fifth place in the mass start at the Olympics on February 21.
Russian skier Savely Korostelev completed his performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy on February 21. The athlete competed in a mass start at a distance of 50 km, the longest in the ski competition program. The start was given at 13:00 Moscow time. According to the results of the marathon, the Russian took fifth place.
The winner of the race was Norwegian Johannes Klebo, while his compatriots Martin Nuenget and Emil Iversen won silver and bronze medals.
The 2026 Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo were the first in Korostelev's career. He performed in various formats, from a short sprint to a marathon, making his debut on February 8. Then he participated in the men's 20 km skiathlon and finished fourth with a score of 46 minutes 14.6 seconds.
This start was the best for the Russian at the current Games, which allowed him to declare himself as a contender for high places. Then two more races took place. On February 10, the athlete took part in the classic style sprint, taking 35th place. Three days later, on February 13, Korostelev entered the 10 km freestyle, finishing 15th.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will end on February 22. 13 Russian athletes are competing in the tournament in a neutral status, without a flag or anthem. In addition to Korostelev, Daria Nepryaeva participates in ski racing — her start is scheduled for the final day of the competition. So far, Korostelev's fourth place in skiathlon remains the best result of Russian skiers.
