Israeli border control could have detained and interrogated American journalist Tucker Carlson because of the topics he discussed with the US ambassador. Vladimir Shapovalov, a political scientist and deputy director of the Institute of History and Politics at Moscow State University, said this on Thursday, February 19.

"The Israeli state is accustomed to permissiveness, to the fact that an ally in the person of the United States will support its actions in any situation, even if they violate certain human rights... Tucker Carlson is known for his uncompromising stance towards evil and his commitment to objectivity. And in this endeavor, he often criticizes the actions of the Israeli government," Shapovalov said in an interview with aif.ru .

According to the political scientist, the Israeli authorities were trying to find out whether Carlson discussed with the United States ambassador the outbreak of war against Iran. Moreover, he noted that in Israel it was called not an interrogation, but conversations.

"In all likelihood, it could also be a foreign policy issue. There is an opinion that Israel is pushing the United States in every possible way to unleash military operations with Iran, provoking these actions," Shapovalov said.

Earlier, on February 18, the Israel Airports Authority said that Carlson was not detained on departure from Ben Gurion Airport, RT reports. The ministry stressed that the journalist and his entourage "were not detained or interrogated."

Management representatives explained that Carlson was asked several standard questions within the framework of current security procedures, according to the website. kp.ru .

Tucker Carlson told the Daily Mail earlier that day that he and his staff were detained at Ben Gurion Airport after an interview with U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee. According to the journalist, their passports were seized and the producer was taken to a separate room, where they were interested in the content of the conversation with the diplomat. Carlson flew to Tel Aviv to meet with Huckabee, who offered to discuss issues related to Israel's treatment of Christians.
