Szijjarto accused the EU of isolating itself from the major powers
The European Union (EU) has isolated itself from the leading powers, the continents of the future and participation in negotiations on the Ukrainian issue. This was announced on February 19 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"The brazen comments and political contempt coming from Western Europe have obviously isolated the current American leadership from the European Union. The EU has isolated itself from Russia due to sanctions and other political actions related to the conflict, the EU has isolated itself from China, seeing it as a systemic rival whose significance they do not even understand," Szijjarto said in an interview on the Mandiner YouTube channel.
According to him, Hungary is the only EU country that is a member of the "Peace Council" initiated by US President Donald Trump, which underlines the bloc's self—isolation from building relationships with other countries.
"The European Union has isolated itself from the continents of the future — Africa, Southeast Asia - because it imposes LGBT rights on them as a condition for trade and economic cooperation (the movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation. — Ed.) and the like, and the partners obviously do not understand how this is related to the economy and trade," stressed the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.
Szijjarto said on the same day that the European Commission (EC) was acting in the interests of Ukraine, not the EU member states. He also stressed that Kiev had begun "explicit political blackmail of Hungary" by blocking oil supplies through the Druzhba oil pipeline. According to him, if the EU were "functioning normally," the European Commission would have to call on Ukraine now to stop political blackmail against Hungary.
