British citizens Lindsay and Craig Foreman have been sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of espionage in Iran. This was reported on February 19 by Sky News channel.

According to the newspaper, the couple were arrested in January 2025 in Iran, when they crossed the country during a motorcycle trip around the world. They deny all the charges against them.

Lindsey Foreman's son Joe Bennett said the couple was "sentenced to 10 years in prison after a trial that lasted only three hours and at which they were not allowed to present their defense."

"They consistently deny these allegations. We have not seen any evidence to support the espionage charge," he added.

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned the verdict, calling it "absolutely appalling and unjustified."

"We will tirelessly seek justice in this case from the Iranian government until we achieve the safe return of Craig and Lindsay Foreman to the UK and their reunification with their family," the minister said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on January 12 that the Israeli and US authorities were trying to use the unrest in Iran for their own purposes in order to destabilize the situation and achieve what they could not do through military action. He stressed that Tehran will not allow terrorist groups, which are supported from the outside, to continue their activities.
