The Ministry of Education has approved a textbook on AI for grades 5-6

The Russian Ministry of Education has included the first large-scale school textbooks on artificial intelligence (AI) in the federal list. Information about this appeared in the federal list of textbooks on the agency's website.

The textbooks "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" are designed for students in grades 5-6, 7-8 and 9. As early as 2026, the manuals will be available to schools across the country.

Alexander Vedyakhin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the AI Alliance and First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the BEAC, noted that modern children start interacting with artificial intelligence early.

"The new textbooks are aimed at practice: they teach children not only to use AI tools mechanically, but also to understand the principles of their work, see their capabilities and limitations, and think critically," Vedyakhin quotes "Газета.Ru ".

The textbooks are accompanied by videos and interactive tests. On a special digital platform, students can perform practical tasks in Russian generative neural networks. Teachers will receive detailed methodological recommendations for high-quality preparation for classes.

Valeria Vorobyeva, CEO of the AI Alliance, called the release of textbooks a strategic step by the country towards forming a generation of responsible users. According to her, the materials will give students a comprehensive understanding of technology, from its benefits to the ethical and safe framework for its use.

"The AI Alliance sees its task as ensuring that the use of AI technologies is competent and informed and contributes to building the human potential of our country," she said.
