In the Rostov region, a man detonated a grenade while trying to be detained by police officers. This was announced on February 19 by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region.
The Taganrog Criminal Investigation Department was looking for a suspect born in 1981. He was on the federal wanted list. The operatives established that he could be hiding in the village of Nikolaevka, the Interior Ministry reports.
"The police officers who arrived at the scene found the suspect in one of the houses, who resisted arrest and detonated an explosive device, presumably a live grenade," the department's Telegram channel says.
As a result of the explosion, the man died on the spot. Two policemen were injured. They were taken to the hospital.
The Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for Kabardino-Balkaria reported on November 10 last year that two men died as a result of a grenade explosion in the republic. According to the agency, there was a conflict between two local residents born in 1965 and 1966 over debt obligations. It is noted that during the quarrel, one of the men triggered a hand grenade. A criminal case has been opened.
