A terrorist cell was identified in a penal colony in the Trans-Baikal Territory

Law enforcement agencies have suppressed the activities of a clandestine terrorist cell in one of the correctional colonies of the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was reported on February 19 at the FSB Public Relations Center.

"It has been established that this cell was created in the interests of an international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation with the aim of recruiting convicts into terrorist activities and collecting funds for its financing," the report says.

As a result of operational search activities in Dagestan, the Volgograd region, the Trans-Baikal and Krasnodar Territories, the organizers and main participants of the cell were detained — a total of seven people.

A criminal case has been opened against the defendants on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 205.4 ("Organization of a terrorist community and participation in it"), against the organizers additionally under part 1.1 of Article 205.1 ("Assistance to terrorist activities") The Criminal Code of Russia.
