Russians named a risky gift for February 23
Searching for a gift for Defender of the Fatherland Day turns out to be a source of stress for many women. So, 76% of the respondents admitted that they are afraid to make a mistake with a gift to their beloved man. This is evidenced by the SOKOLOV research data, which was reviewed by Izvestia on February 20.
For most women, February 23rd is a holiday about loved ones. Most often, gifts are chosen for a partner (husband or boyfriend) — that's how 70% of respondents answered. Another 23% give gifts to their father. Colleagues, friends, and supervisors remain in the background: surprises are chosen for them noticeably less often.
Women approach the choice of a gift intelligently, but they often doubt their decision. According to the survey, 28% start looking for it a few days before the holiday, and another 20% think about it in advance. At the same time, for many, the budget becomes the decisive factor, rather than the idea of a surprise (16%), and one in ten admits that they buy a gift at the last moment.
For 79% of respondents, the fear of making a mistake with a gift becomes not an obstacle, but a reason for a more thoughtful choice. Most often, women worry that a surprise won't meet a man's expectations (33%) or he just won't like it (31%). Another 19% doubt that they will use the gift.
That's why there are clear and proven categories in the top. The most popular options by February 23 are perfumes and care cosmetics (23%), appliances and gadgets (19%) and men's accessories — from watches to jewelry (15%). Another 14% choose gifts with personal meaning, emphasizing attention and attitude.
Jewelry remains one of the most significant categories of surprises. When choosing them, women pay special attention to details: for 41%, the cost of a gift is important, 24% pay attention to the style and its correspondence to the image of a man, and 15% — to the accuracy of the size. This approach makes jewelry a gift that is more often chosen thoughtfully and at the right moment: taking into account the budget (26%), confidence in the man's tastes (19%) and the stage of the relationship (16%).
As for the most "risky" ideas, women most often name socks (34%), clothes (24%), books (15%) and gifts, such as tickets to the theater, cinema or workshops (13%).
Speaking of the budget for the presentation by February 23, most Russians choose a moderate and well-thought-out format. The most common range remains the amount from 3 thousand to 5 thousand rubles — 32% of the respondents put it down. Another 24% are guided by a budget of 1 thousand to 3 thousand rubles, and one in five is ready to spend from 10 thousand to 20 thousand rubles.
Unsurprisingly, the most popular scenario is to discuss the gift in advance. This approach is followed by 31% of women. Another 27% rely on practicality, while 18% choose a simple and "safe" option. Few people consciously choose emotional and risky gifts.
"Jewelry remains one of the most emotionally significant gifts for men. The main thing in choosing a product is to focus on a man's style and choose things that will fit seamlessly into his everyday look," said SOKOLOV Product Director Elena Rakutina.
Research data from HYUNDAI brand experts showed on February 19 that 50% of men dream of receiving tools as a gift on February 23. Gadgets and electronics are considered a suitable gift by 28% of the stronger sex, and 37% of the respondents are ready to give such a gift. About a third of the survey participants are going to prepare their own dinner as a gift, and 29% of men would be happy with such a surprise.
