The European Commission has prepared a plan to support the eastern border regions of the European Union (EU) affected by the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, but funds for these purposes are not budgeted until 2028. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on February 18, citing sources.
The document, called the "Report on the Eastern Border Regions", will be presented on Wednesday. The Baltic states, Poland and Finland will be able to use part of the regional development funds as guarantees for loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
