The second day of the trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States on the Ukrainian settlement will begin in Geneva at 11:00 Moscow time. This was announced on February 18 by a source of Izvestia.

The trilateral talks are taking place in Geneva for two days, on February 17 and 18. The first day of consultations ended the day before. According to the Izvestia source, the negotiations were intense and lasted six hours.

The discussions were conducted in the formats of Russian-American, Russian-Ukrainian and Russian-American-Ukrainian consultations. The head of the Ukrainian delegation and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, did not respond to a question from Izvestia correspondent Igor Baldin about the results of the meeting.

The Russian delegation is headed by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia. According to Peskov, the meeting will also include Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Foreign Minister, and "other officials."

Ukraine will be represented at the meeting by Kirill Budanov, head of the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky (listed as an extremist and terrorist in the Russian Federation), Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Andrey Gnatov, head of the Servant of the People party David Arakhamia, First Deputy head of Zelensky's office Sergey Kislitsa and Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Vadim Skibitsky. The delegation is headed by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of the country, Rustem Umerov, who announced this on February 13 in his Telegram channel.

On the American side, special envoy of the President of the United States Stephen Witkoff and the son-in-law of the American leader, businessman Jared Kushner, are participating in the negotiations in Geneva. Representatives of the European Union (EU) countries will not attend the negotiations. In addition, it was reported that Switzerland, which is hosting the meeting, will also not participate in the negotiations.

Earlier in the day, US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff said that the parties had made significant progress during the discussions. He thanked Switzerland for allowing the meeting, adding that the Russian Federation and Ukraine would inform their leaders about the results and continue working to reach an agreement.

At the same time, Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing sources, reported that the negotiations in Geneva could allegedly "stall." He did not specify which issues were causing difficulties. Umerov has already discussed with the United States and the European Union (EU) the preliminary results of the Geneva meeting.
