Safonov's PSG defeated Monaco in the Champions League match

The French club Paris Saint-Germain defeated Monaco 3-2 in the first play-off match for reaching the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. The game took place on February 17 at the Louis II Stadium.

Desiree Douai scored twice for the winners (29th and 67th minutes), Ashraf Hakimi scored another goal (41st). Folarin Balogan scored goals for Monaco (1st and 18th minutes). Monaco's Russian midfielder Alexander Golovin joined the starting line-up and scored an assist on the team's first goal.

In the 48th minute, Golovin was sent off the field for rough play, receiving a straight red card. He has scored two goals and made five assists in 26 games this season. In the match, PSG's goal was defended by Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.

In the final table of the general stage, Monaco took 21st place, and PSG - 11th. Last year, the Parisians, led by Safonov, won the Champions League for the first time.
