Teachers in Russia were offered to pay salaries not lower than two average salaries
Teachers in Russia have been offered salaries of at least two average salaries. As Izvestia found out, such a bill will be submitted to the State Duma on February 18 by deputies of the Communist Party faction together with Senator Ayrat Gibatdinov.
In the document, they propose to approve a guaranteed minimum base rate for teachers in state and municipal educational institutions at least twice the minimum wage established in the territory of the subject at the place of work. In this case, the condition should be the development of a set standard of working hours (hours of teaching work) per rate.
"According to Rosstat, in 2025 the average salary of teachers was 55 thousand rubles. However, the spread in the regions ranges from more than 100,000 in Moscow and the northern territories to 30,000 in Central Russia," said Yuri Afonin, deputy of the faction, first Deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, explaining the reasons for developing the initiative.
According to him, even this average teacher's salary is the result of monstrous overloads, which, as a rule, consists of several rates.
"There is also a classroom manual, notebooks, preparation for lessons, didactic material, work with parents and reporting. As a result, most teachers are now working hard," the deputy stressed.
He noted that this could be called the reason for the reluctance of young people to go to work in schools.
According to the explanatory note to the draft law, the amount of possible additional costs required to finance the increased base rate may amount to 622.8 billion rubles per year, taking into account the price level of 2025, provided that the base salary rate for all teaching staff increases by one minimum wage.
On October 6 last year, a group of State Duma deputies proposed an inter-faction bill on free hot meals for teachers in schools. The document provides for amendments to the law "On Education in the Russian Federation", which enshrine the right of teachers to free meals at least once a day.
