Macron invited Indian Prime Minister to G7 summit in June
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the G7 summit, which will be held on June 15-17 in Evian-les-Bains, France. This was reported on February 17 by the Associated Press (AP).
"This is the year during which you, Mr. Prime Minister, are chairing the BRICS, and France is chairing the G7. That is why I invited you as a special guest to the G7 summit in Evian," Macron said.
The French President said that French-Indian relations are experiencing a period of significant acceleration in response to changes in international politics.
"We have a special global strategic partnership that gives new ambitions to the ties between India and France," he said.
The French leader highlighted several key sectors that play an important role in strengthening partnership with India. Among them, he named the space industry, nuclear energy, rare earths and critically important minerals, aeronautics and high-speed trains.
In addition, the French president called for the conclusion of a free trade agreement between New Delhi and the European Union (EU), which, in his opinion, will help deepen economic ties between the two countries and increase their competitiveness on the global stage.
On the same day, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, ridiculed Macron's behavior, who abandoned his wife Brigitte at the time of their arrival in India.
