Negotiations on Ukraine are conducted in a closed format to eliminate pressure on the parties. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, expressed this opinion on Tuesday, February 17.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged not to expect news from the talks on resolving the Ukrainian crisis in Geneva on the first day, RT reports.

"The decision not to advertise the content of the negotiations was made so that no one would try to put pressure on making a decision in advance," Chepa explained in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States will take place over two days, from February 17 to 18, and the Russian delegation is headed by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia.

According to the presidential press secretary, the meeting will be attended by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Mikhail Galuzin, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Deputy Foreign Minister, and "other officials."
