Avtodor demanded that the drivers pay the debts of four years ago
The state-owned Avtodor company has stepped up the collection of old debts from car owners for toll roads through notifications through the Gosuslugi portal. We are talking about trips from three and four years ago. This was reported by Kommersant on February 17.
Representatives of the state-owned company explained that in November last year Avtodor uploaded data on all debts generated before September 1, 2024 to the Gosuslug portal (from that date, motorists began to be notified of the need to pay for travel through the portal). The measure is designed to "increase the coverage of informing users about old debts that users might not know about or have forgotten," the state-owned company noted.
In the social networks of some citizens, they decided that the statute of limitations on such debts had allegedly passed a long time ago, the note says. However, representatives of Avtodor stressed that the requirement to pay for the services actually rendered remains valid indefinitely.
"The expiration of the limitation period by itself does not cancel the debt or terminate the obligation, but is the basis for refusing judicial satisfaction of the claim only if the party to the case claims that this period has been missed (art. 199 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation)," Avtodor explained.
The state-owned company noted the effectiveness of sending notifications: drivers who receive them actively pay for old trips.
Earlier, on January 22, it was reported that Avtodor is considering the possibility of increasing fares on its toll roads in 2026. Vyacheslav Petushenko, the head of the state-owned company, noted that this issue will be studied, among other things, for reasons of inflation and rising costs of maintaining roads.
