In an interview with the Health Mail on Tuesday, February 17, the doctor explained that some gynecological diseases can go on for a long time without pronounced symptoms and manifest themselves already at the stage when treatment becomes difficult.

According to him, ovarian cancer is often diagnosed late due to its asymptomatic course. The reason for the examination may be persistent bloating, a feeling of pressure, rapid satiation, discomfort in the lower abdomen and frequent urination. Uterine fibroids also often go unnoticed: a woman's abdominal enlargement is mistaken for weight gain, and heavy menstruation is a feature of the cycle. Endometriosis can disguise itself as PMS for years or be detected accidentally, for example, during an examination for infertility.

Cervical dysplasia is associated with the human papillomavirus, so it is important to know your HPV status. The specialist stressed that for prevention, it is necessary to visit a gynecologist annually, undergo ultrasound of the pelvic organs, a PAP test and an HPV test, as well as consider vaccination.
