A suspect has been detained in Dagestan in the case of a fire at an oil depot.

Dagestan investigators have detained a suspect in a criminal case on a violation of industrial safety rules that resulted in the death of a person during a tank fire in the village of Novy Khushet. This was reported on February 17 in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

"The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. In the near future, the investigation will apply to the court with a petition for the election of a preventive measure against him," the agency said in a statement.

According to the investigation, the violations committed by the suspect at a dangerous production facility led to the death of a person.

Large families who lived in houses destroyed by fire are appealing to the head of the Investigative Committee and demanding that firefighters be held accountable.

A man was killed as a result of a fire in a liquefied gas tank in the village of Novy Khushet in Dagestan. It was noted that 63 people and 19 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

About 50 more similar gas tanks were located on the territory of the facility in the immediate vicinity of the emergency tank. Due to the high risk of detonation and the spread of fire to neighboring tanks, the authorities are considering a large-scale evacuation of residents.
