The second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on the nuclear program ended on Tuesday in Geneva. This was announced on February 17 by Axios portal journalist Barak Ravid in his post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"The second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on nuclear issues, which took place today in Geneva, has ended, an American official said," Ravid wrote.

The talks were held in Geneva as part of efforts to resolve the Islamic Republic's nuclear program and discuss bilateral security issues. The details of the outcome of the meeting and the further steps of the parties have not yet been disclosed.

On the same day, it was reported that the Iranian delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who noted that he had arrived in Geneva with "constructive initiatives" to achieve a fair and balanced agreement. The United States is represented by President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the American leader's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Iran has previously stated its readiness to consider the possibility of a deal with the United States, which could include the suspension or complete cessation of its nuclear program. At the same time, Tehran expressed its preference for the proposal to create a regional consortium for the production of nuclear energy, which was put forward by the United States last year.

Negotiations between Tehran and Washington on the nuclear program ended on February 6. During these discussions, the parties reached an agreement on the continuation of the diplomatic process. This was the first meeting after a long break in the dialogue, which was interrupted in the summer of 2025 due to the transition of the Iranian-Israeli confrontation to an open stage.
