Construction of new tram lines announced in St. Petersburg

Construction of four new tram lines in the south of the city with a total length of at least 41 km will begin in St. Petersburg. This was announced on February 17 by Konstantin Shostak, Acting Director of Gorelectrotrans.

"In the recent history of St. Petersburg, these are the first plans for the new construction of a tram network of this scale — four lines with a total length of at least 41 km. St. Petersburg has embarked on the development of modern, comfortable, fast, environmentally friendly, passenger-intensive urban transport — the tram, which is a sign of prosperous and comfortable cities," TASS quoted Shostak as saying.
