Overchuk noted a 22% increase in trade between Russia and Iran in 2025%
Russia's trade with Iran increased by 22% in 2025. This was announced on February 17 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Overchuk during a speech at the Architecture of the Future: Russian Business on Key Multilateral Platforms forum.
"Last year, we started a full-scale agreement with Iran. According to the figures we have, and the agreement came into effect on May 15, trade increased by 22%," TASS quoted him as saying.
The Russian deputy prime minister added that Moscow is working to minimize the remaining barriers with Tehran.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on January 20 that Russia and Iran have good plans in the trade and investment sphere, and US duties will not prevent their implementation. He noted that unilateral coercive measures, such as duties and tariffs applied by the US administration, indicate the initiator's lack of confidence in its competitive abilities.
On January 14, Lavrov indicated that the nature of the long-established relations between Russia and Iran could not be changed by any third party. He added that the nature of the countries' diplomatic relations meets the interests of the two states and the two peoples, and is also embodied in a number of practical projects.
