Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, said that heavy snowfalls are expected in Moscow.

In conversation with aif.ru On Tuesday, February 17, the specialist noted that heavy snowfall is not predicted on February 17-18. However, on Thursday, another southern cyclone will arrive in the region, which may bring heavy, and possibly more intense precipitation than before.

According to her, snow is expected almost throughout the capital region, including in Moscow, so residents should prepare for inclement weather. Thursday, the specialist noted, promises to be very unfavorable in terms of weather conditions.

Earlier, the peak of snowfall in Moscow occurred on January 27-28, when the height of the snow cover reached 60 cm. Two weeks later, on February 13, a snow cyclone covered Moscow and the Moscow region, IA Regnum reminds.

Also on February 17, Pozdnyakova clarified that on Wednesday, February 18, the minimum air temperature is forecast to reach -17...-19 degrees, and in the afternoon it will be -11...-13 degrees, which is about 10 degrees below the climatic norm. The cold snap is due to the area of high atmospheric pressure and the influence of the cyclone's rear, notes 360.ru .

Earlier in the day, the Hydrometeorological Center reported that cloudy weather is expected in the capital on Tuesday, with light snow in places. The air temperature in Moscow will range from -7 to -9 degrees during the day. The temperature will drop to -20 degrees at night. The north wind is expected to reach a speed of 6-11 m/s. The atmospheric pressure will be 747 mmHg, RIAMO clarifies.

On February 10, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, announced that the climatic spring would begin in the capital on March 21. But he explained that the climatic spring — a steady transition of the average daily temperature through zero towards positive values — occurs annually at approximately the same time, determined by the climate of the region, writes NSN.
