President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on February 17, before the start of peace talks in Geneva, that diplomacy would become more effective if combined with force.

"Our diplomacy will be more effective if there is justice and force," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Zelensky explained that by his statement he means increased sanctions pressure on Russia, support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and air defense systems, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

The Ukrainian president also announced the shutdown of heat and water supply for "tens of thousands" of Odessa residents. In addition, repair work continues on energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged not to expect news from the negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis in Geneva on the first day. According to the president's press secretary, it is planned that the negotiations will continue tomorrow.

Negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in Geneva will begin within two hours. The meeting between Russia, Ukraine and the United States will take place over two days, from February 17th to 18th. The Russian delegation is headed by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia.
