The plane of the Russian delegation arrived in Geneva for talks on Ukraine
The plane of the Russian delegation headed by Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky arrived in Geneva. This was reported by RIA Novosti on February 17.
Izvestia correspondent Igor Baldin said the day before that the delegations would hold talks at the InterContinental Geneva hotels. According to him, security measures in the hotel area have been strengthened. Journalists are not allowed close to the building — metal fences are installed a few meters from the entrance, which are guarded by police officers.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that a Russian delegation led by Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky traveled to Geneva to participate in negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
Later it became known that the special envoy of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff, and the son-in-law of the American leader, Jared Kushner, flew to Geneva to participate in negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, as well as to contact the Iranian side.
A new round of negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on conflict resolution will be held on February 17-18 in Geneva. The Swiss authorities have confirmed their willingness to host this trilateral meeting. As previously reported by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Russian delegation at the talks will be headed by Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.
