The United Russia Party held the first meeting of the Council for Innovation and Technological Development. His work priorities will include artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, new materials, next-generation energy, unmanned systems, as well as space and communications. This was reported on February 16 on the party's website.

As the secretary of the General Council of the party, Vladimir Yakushev, noted, the key task of the council is to prepare practical initiatives.

"We need concrete proposals that can be turned into laws, regulations, programs, standards. To ensure that these documents move the Russian technology sector forward and change people's lives for the better," he stressed.

According to Yakushev, the discussion should be conducted "honestly, directly and openly," and each proposal should have a responsible executor and clear deadlines for implementation.

Ilya Medvedev, Secretary of the Council for Innovation and Technological Development, said that the council faces a strategic task.

"The council's task is to form a long—term vision of the country's technological development until 2050 with a mechanism for annual renewal," he said.

Igor Murog, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, told Izvestia earlier in the day that the introduction of practice-oriented courses on artificial intelligence and information security in schools reflects Russia's long-term strategy in the field of digital sovereignty. According to him, this will create the basis for systematic training in the IT industry and shorten the adaptation period for admission to colleges and universities. He also noted the importance of including AI ethics and practical data analysis tasks in the school curriculum. According to the senator, it is advisable to start studying at about the age of 12.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
