On February 16, the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced that he was ready to participate in the next regional governor's elections, provided that Russian President Vladimir Putin supported him.

Kadyrov also said that Magomed Daudov, Chairman of the Chechen government, had asked him to participate in the preliminary voting.
