Traffic has been restricted on the M12 Vostok highway
Due to unfavorable road and meteorological conditions, temporary traffic restrictions for buses and trucks have been introduced on the M12 Vostok highway in Tatarstan. This was announced on February 16 by the regional State Traffic Inspectorate in its Telegram channel.
The restriction was introduced in order to ensure road safety until weather conditions improve, the ministry said.
The Avtodor state company, which manages this highway, reported that 76 units of snow removal equipment, as well as six crews of emergency commissioners, are currently working on this road in Tatarstan. In total, about 230 pieces of equipment and about 30 avarkom crews are on duty from Moscow to Kazan, the state-owned company noted.
"Heavy wet snow and a blizzard with reduced visibility up to 500 m are expected in the coming days from Moscow to Kazan. We also ask drivers of passenger cars to postpone trips in bad weather," noted Avtodor Group of Companies.
Earlier today it became known that over the past weekend, 359 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 55 people were killed and 473 injured.
