Libraries and cultural centers of the capital were visited by 13.3 million people in 2025. Moscow residents not only took books, but also attended clubs and sections, creative evenings and meetings with writers, lectures and concerts, said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
"During the year, libraries and cultural centers in Moscow held more than 64 thousand events. Children and adults got acquainted with their favorite authors, participated in master classes, excursions and festivals," Sergunina noted.
So, the annual spring campaign "Biblionoch", which was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory, included 1,700 events — from quizzes to patriotic flash mobs. She gathered 53 thousand guests.
In the summer, events of the Book in the City project were held on Theater Square, Sretensky Boulevard and Pushkin Square, they were attended by 600 thousand people. Contemporary authors held autograph sessions, folk artists read fragments from the works of Russian writers, and musicians supported the creative atmosphere by playing the violin, flute, and saxophone.
12 thousand Muscovites visited the summer library in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. "Forest libraries" have been set up in the Vorontsovo Estate, the parks of the 50th Anniversary of October and the Khodynskoye Field. By the onset of the cold weather, they were insulated to make it comfortable to spend time here in winter.
In 2018, a modernization program began in Moscow libraries. A single reader's card has been introduced for all institutions. You can use it to get books from any city library. Last year alone, 163,000 single reader tickets were issued, their total number exceeded 1.3 million.
