In Transbaikalia, motorists will be fined for air pollution
In Transbaikalia, starting from the next heating season, motorists who pollute the air may be fined. This was stated by the head of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources Pavel Volzhin on the air of GTRK Chita.
"Those vehicles that are traveling and smoking black smoke today will face responsibility and appropriate fines," the minister said, quoted by ChitaMedia news agency.
According to him, cars account for only 1% of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. However, in winter, especially during rush hours, the problem is compounded by traffic jams in narrow areas.
This year, the agency, together with the State Traffic Inspectorate, studied the issue of working with heavy trucks, checked busy highways on city streets. According to statistics, trucks account for the most exhaust gases. It is expected that the mechanism will be improved and used in the upcoming heating season.
Earlier it was reported that multifunctional road service points will appear along the roads in Transbaikalia. The issue of their creation has already been discussed at a meeting in the regional Ministry of Economic Development.
