Czech President announces delivery of 4.4 million shells to Ukraine
Ukraine has received about 4.4 million large-caliber ammunition as part of the Czech supply initiative. This was announced on February 16 by Czech President Petr Pavel.
"Since its creation, the initiative has provided about 4 million 400 thousand units of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine. Last year alone, it was almost 2 million," the PAP news agency quoted the president as saying.
The Czech President described the process as "extremely successful" and added that this was the view of at least 15 countries that financially supported the initiative. According to him, the Czech program provided Ukraine with more than 50% of all large-scale ammunition.
"It was vital for Ukraine and remains so now, because there is no alternative yet," he stressed.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on February 12 that the United States is ready to supply Ukraine with weapons worth $12-15 billion. As the Secretary General noted, we are talking about critical systems.
