Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the regulations on the National Committee for Business Cooperation within the framework of the BRICS. The relevant decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on February 16.

According to the document, the committee will ensure the interaction of federal executive authorities in the development of multilateral and bilateral business cooperation within the framework of the BRICS.

Maxim Oreshkin, Putin's special representative for financial and economic cooperation with the BRICS countries and cooperation with the New Development Bank, has been appointed Chairman of the Committee.

"To form a National Committee for Business Cooperation within the framework of the BRICS association," the order says.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that BRICS has no plans to transform into a military alliance, since it is not a collective security organization. He also commented on the BRICS countries' participation in the recent naval exercises held in South Africa, stressing that these were national events, not "Brics" ones.
