The expert predicted the fluctuation of the ruble exchange rate this week
This week, the ruble exchange rate will fluctuate between 74.50–79 rubles per dollar, 88-93 rubles per euro, and 10.75–11.40 rubles per yuan. This was announced to Izvestia on February 16 by Spartak Sobolev, head of the Alfa-Forex Investment Strategy Research Department.
On February 14, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the exchange rate of the American currency at 77.1 rubles, the European currency at 91.5 rubles, and the Chinese currency at 11.1 rubles. At the same time, according to the Moscow Stock Exchange, on February 16, the yuan is trading at 11 rubles.
"This week, we expect ranges of fluctuations of the ruble in the range of 74.50–79 rubles per dollar, 88-93 rubles per euro and 10.75–11.40 rubles per yuan. The market continues to play out the effect of the smooth easing of the Central Bank's monetary policy," Sobolev said.
According to the expert, ruble rates are still attractive, and the beginning of the tax period will preserve a sufficient supply of foreign currency.
Sobolev drew attention to the fact that there may be risks on the geopolitical front. He recalled that negotiations between representatives of the United States, Russia and Ukraine will be held on February 17-18. So far, the external background, according to the expert, remains moderately optimistic.
On February 9, Sobolev clarified that the ruble's strong position was influenced by the increased supply of foreign currency and continued interest in domestic currency against the background of the high interest rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. He also clarified that a possible gradual easing of monetary policy would deter the Russian currency from excessive appreciation.
