Russian short-track speed skater Alena Krylova took [place] in the final 1000 m race at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. The decisive start took place on Monday, February 16, at 14:36 Moscow time. Earlier in the day, the semifinals were held at 13:55 Moscow time, as a result of which the participants in the fight for medals were determined. Two athletes from each race advanced to the final, as well as two short-track athletes with the best third results in time.

In the semifinals, Krylova competed in the second race. Three laps before the finish, she fell in the fight for the position, but managed to get up and complete the race. The judging panel reviewed the episode, after which the Russian woman retained her chances of continuing to participate in the competition. The quarterfinals in the 1000 m distance started on February 16 at 13:00 Moscow time. It was based on their results that the composition of the semi-finalists was formed, who continued to fight for entry into the decisive round.

The athlete began qualifying on Saturday, February 14th. Her race started at 22:59 Moscow time. The successful performance allowed Krylova to advance to the next stage of the tournament. At the 2026 Games, she performs in a neutral status - without a flag and anthem, in accordance with the current conditions for the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions.

Alyona Krylova represents the new generation of the Russian short track. She specializes in middle distances, including 1000 and 1500 meters, and is a member of the national team. The athlete became a prize-winner of the Russian Cup and national championships, and also took part in international competitions. Experts note her ability to work in a tight group and correctly distribute forces over the course of the race. The Olympics in Italy have become one of the key tournaments in Krylova's career and an important stage in her sporting development.

A total of 13 Russians are taking part in the competition. The Olympic Games in Italy will last until February 22, and 116 medals will be awarded in eight sports.
