Russian figure skater Adelia Petrosyan will compete at the start of the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy on February 17. The athlete will take part in the women's individual short program tournament at 20:45 Moscow time. Petrosyan will be the second starting number. She will perform in a neutral status, without national symbols.

The athlete missed her first training session after arriving at the Olympics due to a long night flight. At the same time, Petrosyan will take part in the first warm-up of the short program, as she received a ticket to the Games through the qualifying tournament. The time of her performance in the free program will be determined based on the results of the short program.

In the short program, the skater intends to perform a cascade of triple flip and triple toe loop, as well as single triple lutz and double axel. In total, the program includes seven mandatory elements: a double axel, a triple lutz, a libela jump, a 3F+3T combination, a slope, a step track and a combination of rotations with a leg change. This kit does not include ultra-si elements like the triple axel, which distinguishes Petrosyan's approach from many of the world ranking leaders of the 2025/26 season.

With perfect execution of all elements with high marks for components and GOE, the program results can reach about 32-34 points. The technical score can reach up to 38-42 points with maximum plus allowances, and the Petrosyan components are usually estimated in the range of 31-33 points at international competitions.

On February 19, the figure skater will perform the free skate at 21:00 Moscow time.

Experts note that the performance of the three-time champion of Russia will attract the most attention. The fight for medals will be serious, as athletes from the USA and Japan are among the strong competitors.

Adelia Petrosyan was born on June 5, 2007 in Moscow. The athlete asked to skate at the age of two, but her parents took her to the section only at four. The first coaches noted her dedication, fighting character and full confidence in the specialists.

With Irina Strakhovaya, Adelia laid a solid foundation and mastered all the triple jumps. In 2019, she was screened by Eteri Tutberidze and gradually got used to the intensive training system. A year later, she started steadily winning medals at the Russian Cup and junior competitions.

Gradually, Petrosyan mastered the elements of ultra-si: a quadruple sheepskin coat, two quadruple Rittbergers in one program, and a triple axel. In the 2023-2025 seasons, she became a three-time champion of Russia, the winner of the finals of the Russian Grand Prix and the Russian Jumping Championship, and also won Olympic qualification and received a ticket to the 2026 Games in Milan.
