Geis Teynman, Secretary of State of the Dutch Ministry of Defense, criticized the pace of integration of European weapons into American F-35 fighter jets and said that planes can be "hacked" in a similar way to an iPhone smartphone.

"I will say something that I should never have said, but I will say it anyway: you can hack the F-35 in the same way as the iPhone," a representative of the department said on BNR radio.

According to Teynman, the process of adapting European Meteor, Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles to F-35 systems is too slow. He stressed that European allies need to join forces to accelerate integration, naming Norway and Poland as possible partners in this.

"If we take this seriously together with the Norwegians and Poles, then it will become clear whether the Americans are ready to express their position," Teynman said.

On January 27, the Dutch authorities began deploying F-35 fighter jets at Schiphol Civilian Airport in case of a possible conflict. After a training mission over the North Sea, the F-35s returned to the airport, where they were refueled and equipped with training weapons for their next flight.
