On February 16, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, ironically commented on the citation of Marvel comics by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas.

"Kaya Kallas, the EU's top diplomat, has promised to become smarter and start reading books by the end of her term. She reports good progress — she has already started reading Marvel comics and quoting them. Keep it up, Kaya!," Dmitriev wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

During her recent speech at the Munich Security Conference panel discussion, Callas quoted a character from the Marvel comics universe, urging Europeans to unite. Later, she repeated the call for a "common gathering" of EU countries, comparing Europeans to superheroes from the famous Marvel universe.

"And let me once again turn to the Marvel universe for inspiration: 'Heroes become as a result of the path they choose, not because of the powers they are given,'" Callas said.

On February 5, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin advised Kaya Kallas to see a doctor against the background of her statements about Russia's alleged attacks on other states. The chairman made such a statement after the head of the European Diplomacy said that over the past 100 years, the Russian Federation had allegedly attacked more than 19 countries. Volodin stressed that Russia has never started conflicts, on the contrary, it ends them.
