The Central University will conduct the national selection and training of the Russian national team to participate in the International Engineering and Space Olympiad Global Future Space Scholars Meet (GFSSM) for schoolchildren, the university's press service reported. The partners of the selection and training of the national team are Roscosmos and T-Technologies Group (the parent company of T-Bank). The Central University became the first university in the country to receive accreditation for the selection and training of the national team.

The GFSSM will be held in Beijing on August 13-17, 2026 for the ninth time. The Russian team will represent the country at the Olympics for the first time. The participants of the national teams will have to form international teams and work together in 24 hours to develop a project for a large industrial space city located in the asteroid belt.

Students over the age of 14 who are interested in technology, science (mathematics, physics, biology, social studies or economics) and project activities are invited to participate in the selection. Candidates must have experience participating in competitions, Olympiads, and project programs related to space subjects, engineering, and technological entrepreneurship. Willingness to work with cases, presentations, and team tasks is also important.

Applications from interested parties are accepted on the selection website until February 26. The final composition will be formed based on the results of the three stages by April 10. The national team will consist of 10-12 people.

The participants of the Russian national team, right up to the competitions themselves, will be engaged in practical work and solving tasks according to an individual program on the basis of the Central University. Experts from the Central University, T-Technologies and Roscosmos, as well as invited specialists from the engineering and technology industries, will prepare them.

The GFSSM is organized by leading aerospace institutes: Space Foundation (USA), China Space Foundation (China), National Space Academy (UK), ITCC (International Teenager Competition and Communication Center).
