British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on February 16 that the government should "accelerate" defense spending.

"We need to step up, we need to accelerate the pace [of defense spending]. Obviously, we have already made commitments, but it's not just about the amount of expenses," Starmer told Reuters.

The authors of the material noted that the statement by the British Prime Minister underlines London's desire to postpone to an earlier date the date by which the UK will have to spend 3% of GDP on defense.

Bloomberg reported on February 9 that the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will prioritize applications from defense-oriented funds, amid London's desire to strengthen this area together with other European countries. The article noted that FCA plans to issue permits for new defense funds within three days, while for long-standing ones the deadline will be no more than a month.
