President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he had offered the United States an ideal plan for Venezuela, but the Americans had done something stupid. The president stated this on February 16 at a meeting with the State Secretary of the Union State, Sergei Glazyev.

"They were wrong with Maduro — they did something stupid. I warned you. At the suggestion of the Americans, I was drawn into this problem. And I offered them the perfect option... They went their own way. Donald wanted to please the military somehow," the BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying.

The Belarusian leader also noted that he has another proposal for the United States to resolve the crisis situation in Venezuela. The President clarified that he was ready to talk about this with his American counterpart Donald Trump.

"He is a pragmatic person. Me too. Therefore, I think we will discuss this issue. I don't want to say that I'm the chief adviser here and I can solve a problem with him here. No. But I can express my point of view," Lukashenko summed up.

Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko refused Donald Trump's invitation to attend the first meeting of the "Peace Council" in the United States. As it turned out, the reason for the refusal was that the invitation arrived too late and the work schedule of the Belarusian leader for these dates had already been approved. According to the press secretary of the Belarusian president Natalia Eismont, logistical difficulties, including the closure of airspace over the European Union (EU), became an additional factor.
