- Businessman Chichvarkin was sentenced in absentia to nine years for fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
The Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow found businessman Evgeny Chichvarkin guilty in absentia and sentenced him to nine years in a general regime penal colony (recognized as a foreign agent, listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) in the case of spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces and evading the duties of a foreign agent. This was reported on February 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
Earlier, during the debate between the parties, the prosecutor asked for nine years in prison for Chichvarkin. In addition, the prosecution requested that the entrepreneur be banned from administering websites on the Internet for five years.
The entrepreneur is currently on the wanted list.
In March last year, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office requested that a criminal case be opened against Chichvarkin because of his evasion of duties as a foreign agent. On March 25, the Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow fined an entrepreneur 15,000 rubles for participating in an organization deemed undesirable in the Russian Federation. Later, on July 10, Chichvarkin was put on the wanted list under an article of the Criminal Code.
In November of the same year, a criminal case against Chichvarkin was sent to court. It was clarified that he posted a publication on one of the social networks containing deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian Army. On November 21, 2025, Chichvarkin was added to the list of terrorists and extremists.
