- Repilov spoke about the attitude towards Russian luge athletes at the Olympics in Italy
Russian luge skiers, who competed in a neutral status at the first international competitions after a long break, faced a wary attitude from foreign athletes, but the atmosphere returned to normal by the Olympic Games in Italy. Luge skier Pavel Repilov told about this on February 16.
"Compared to our first World Cup starts, the guys have become more friendly and relaxed with us. Maybe at first this attitude was due to the fact that we had been gone for almost four years, they had become unaccustomed to us," the athlete told TASS.
According to Repilov, at the Olympic Games he had no tension in dealing with foreign competitors. He noted that relations were particularly warm with the Italians, and the rest of the athletes also did not show aggression — the atmosphere was friendly.
In addition, the luge rider shared his impressions of his performance in Cortina d'Ampezzo. He was pleased with how he coped with the task, managing to accelerate well and complete the track. The athlete admitted that the Olympics had not become something unusual for him, although he noted a higher level of competition. In his opinion, the Games were reminiscent of the 2020 Youth Olympics in Switzerland.
ROC head Mikhail Degtyarev said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports on February 11 that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) might consider restoring ROC status in April or May.
